Arab Gulf Programme for Development (AGFUND) Prize for (Khatwa) for Home-Based Businesses

The main objectives of (Khatwa) for Home-Based Businesses, which won the international prize, are to attract families and individuals who are able to work and have certain ideas or skills, and to allow those who do not have a commercial record to obtain a work permit from home, as well as help them to carry out their activities and work until they reach To the stage of craftsmanship and entry to the market as new business owners and entrepreneurs, where the project is to qualify and train them through training courses in social centers of the Ministry and Khatwa center for Home-Based Businesses, and then give the legal and official formula for these projects and products by issuing the license of (Productive House) for practicing home-based work. The project also seeks to expand the sales and marketing outlets for household products in order to form a nucleus for future commercial projects, within the framework of the Kingdom of Bahrain's policy of supporting all efforts to empower individuals and families, noting that the project has clearly contributed to raising the level of income for the beneficiary families.   

Best Instagram Account at the 4th Gulf Social Work Festival

The Kingdom of Bahrain won the Best Instagram Website Award for the Ministry of Labour and Social Development in the 4th Gulf Social Work Festival Competitions held in Doha between 12-16 November 2014. The Ministry's account is considered one of the most vital, organized and perfect sites in uploading, commenting and capability to communicate with citizens and residents of the Kingdom of Bahrain. The Ministry’s Instagram account @mosdbahrain managed to attract a large number of followers, approximate to six thousand five hundred followers, and since the opening of the account in 2013 until today has been posted more than 1500 photos of the activities of the Ministry of the opening, conferences, seminars and activities of the centers of the Ministry and other, which shows and highlights services provided by the Ministry to citizens.   

Best Bahraini Electronic Content Award 2013

The Ministry of Labour and Social Development has achieved a new achievement in addition to its continuous achievements by winning the 2013 Bahrain eContent Award for its new website, which is an integrated reference that includes all the Ministry's information, initiatives, activities, services and achievements in a way that serves the citizen or the browser anywhere in the world. Ministry of Social Development in the Kingdom of Bahrain and its leadership in the areas of community service and advancement of the development of individuals from all segments of society. The award recognizes the level of specify and quality that the Ministry is keen to provide through its various services, where the Ministry seeks to employ modern technologies in programs and electronic services with high quality on the website so that visitors to the site easily to provide them with information and meet their service needs and the award comes within the framework with the World Summit Award (WSA).   

Mohammed Bin Rashid Award for Youth Enterprise Support

The Kingdom of Bahrain has achieved a remarkable achievement in the field of supporting small and medium enterprises in the Arab world. Represented in the bank as the first social banking institution in Bahrain and one of the Ministry of Labour and Social Development projects established in partnership with the private sector winning the prize of Mohammed Bin Rashid for supporting youth projects for “The best initiative for small and medium enterprises in the Arab world” category, at the awards ceremony held on Monday (09 December 2013) at the Dubai World Trade Center under the patronage of UAE Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum.
The Family Bank won this award because of the leading role played by the bank in consolidating the concepts of social work and development partnership in upgrading and developing the performance of this important sector in the Kingdom of Bahrain in providing Islamic microfinance that targets low income, women, youth and the unemployed. This year, after the award witnessed a great competition between institutions and companies from different countries of the Arab world, the bank has passed a number of criteria set by a judging panel composed of prominent personalities in the fields of entrepreneurship.   



Best e-Project Award for “NGO System”

Ministry of Labour and Social Development Excellence Award for the best e-project on the "system of NGOs" during the Bahrain International e-Government Forum 2013 under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Mubarak Al Khalifa, Deputy Prime Minister and Chairman of the Higher Committee for Information and Communication Technology, organized by the e-Government Authority for the sixth consecutive year in cooperation with the Project Management Institute (Bahrain Branch) and Bahrain Internet Association. The winning project is the first electronic system in the world to fully regulate all NGO transactions in the use of Extranet technology to provide services to NGOs. It was launched a while ago through which the NGO transactions are organized in alphabetical order. Using a state-of-the-art user name and password, using modern technologies and information systems allows associations to enter applications (such as holding an event, holding a general assembly, raising money, sending money, etc.) and following them through the website All in facilitating the services provided by the Ministry to NGOs in addition to improving the performance and efficiency of work.
