Elderly Services Office

 


   


Whereas, the Ministry of Labour and Social Development is keen on upgrading the services and programmes provided to the elderly and facilitating their access to all services at a one-stop shop, the Resolution No. 9 of 2013 was issued regarding the establishment of an office for the elderly services, and accordingly the Elderly Services Office, of the Social Welfare Directorate in the Ministry, was opened in 2014.

The Elderly Services Office is located in Abdulla bin Yousif Fakhro Social Center in Isa Town, and provides services to citizens during official working hours.

Goals:

 

  1. Provide a discount card for the elderly.
  2. Facilitating requests to benefit from social clubs for parental care, permanent care, and requests for equipment and assistants for the elderly category.
  3. Implementing a package of programmes and services that support enhancing the quality of life for the elderly in the Kingdom of Bahrain.
  4. Implementing supportive programmes to raise the quality of life of the elderly, emanating from the national strategy for the elderly.
  5. Providing family and social counselling for the elderly and their families.
  6. Carry out surveys for the elderly.


Target group:
•    The elderly category beyond 60 years and above.
•     The category of those coming to the stage after 60 years, by providing educational programmes to qualify them to enter the leaders' stage with complete independence and without the need for change.

Services provided by the office:

  1. Issuing the elderly card and introducing the elderly in the Kingdom of Bahrain to the discount card and the parties that benefit from it.
  2. Introducing the services provided by the Ministry of Labour and Social Development in the Kingdom of Bahrain to the elderly category.
  3. Providing programmes and services provided by the Ministry of Labour and Social Development for the elderly in the Kingdom of Bahrain under the same roof.
  4. Providing a package of programmes and services that support raising the quality of life for the elderly in the Kingdom of Bahrain and implementing the national strategy for the elderly.
  5. Encourage the family to care for the elderly in his home and provide all services that ensure that there is no need for permanent shelter in care homes.
  6. Providing training and qualification programmes for citizens who are in the age group beyond 60 years, to be independent and self-reliant adults.
  7. Providing family and social counselling for the elderly and their families.
  8. Receiving requests for assistive devices and prosthetic devices for the elderly in the Kingdom of Bahrain.
  9.
